Sustainability
BWH Hotels has created a new global sustainability initiative, which focuses on three important pillars: Earth, People and Community (EPC).
Our commitment to the environment
We are committed to sustainability across our network and are proud to have achieved third party certification aligned with the internationally recognised standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
This milestone reinforces our dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and long-term value creation, ensuring our Earth. People. Community. framework meets global best practice while delivering measurable impact for our owners, guests and communities. Together we can truly make a lasting impact on our world and ensure a bright future for generations to come.
Environmental Responsibility
BWH Hotels has evolved its environmental strategy to ensure measurable, standardised and independently recognised performance across its network.
While earlier initiatives included collaboration with academic research institutions to explore behavioral science and guest engagement strategies, our approach has since matured into a structured, certification-aligned framework. Today, we are proud to have achieved certification aligned with the internationally recognised standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Under this framework, our properties track and manage key environmental indicators across core operational areas, including energy consumption, water usage and waste generation. Performance is monitored against defined benchmarks, enabling hotels to identify efficiencies, reduce operating costs and strengthen environmental compliance.
Fostering an inclusive work environment that cares about its people, BWH Hotels has
adopted the mindset of a work family. In celebrating diversity amongst employees, it strives to be a
place others want to work. As a global brand BWH endeavours to think global and act local to ensure its
approach is personalised and authentic. Below are a few practices implemented to foster a healthy and
inclusive work environment where creativity can thrive.
Social Responsibility
At BWH Hotels, our People pillar embodies the Social dimension of our GSTC certification, reflecting our commitment to safe, inclusive and ethical workplaces. By embedding globally recognised social standards into daily operations, we ensure that our teams are supported, diversity is celebrated, and human rights are upheld.
This focus not only enhances employee wellbeing and engagement but also drives operational stability and performance by delivering measurable value for our hoteliers, guests, and the communities in which we operate.
Positive Impact & Destination Stewardship
At BWH Hotels we value the communities in which we operate and support initiatives that enhance local wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
BWH Hotels actively participate in programs and partnerships that strengthen local economies, support community initiatives, and protect the ecosystems in which we operate. By embedding community and environmental responsibility into hotel operations, we create vibrant, sustainable destinations that attract guests, foster engagement, and deliver lasting value for owners and stakeholders.
BWH Hotels’ Sports Saver Program, in partnership with Best Western Rewards, is designed to connect
hotels with their local communities. Offering sports clubs and teams 15% off the best available rate for
all online bookings and a bonus travel rebate for every member booking, the Sports Saver Program is
kicking goals! The program is free for hotels and sports teams to join and is valid at all hotels across
Australia and New Zealand. This easy-to-use initiative is an effective way for hotels to get involved with
their communities and welcome teams to their properties.
